The Cost of Health Care

Even in these rough financial times, it is still vitally important to not neglect your health since you will have to deal with the problem sooner or later. It has been proven that addressing a problem immediately is better than procrastinating since it will save you time, money and a lot of suffering.  Why wait until the problem is so bad it forces you to act out of desperation.

Problems such as back pain, neck pain, sciatic, and the like can negatively affect work productivity.  This in turn will have a bad affect legally, economically and health-wise for the employer and the patient.

Chiropractic Cost versus Medical Cost

Chiropractic really shines in cost comparisons and is one of the reasons why it has gained so much attention over the years. Health care researchers have examined groups of individuals who opted for chiropractic care versus those who had chosen traditional medicine. The difference between both professions is in three separate categories: surgical rates, diagnostic imaging, and patient satisfaction.

Costs are considerably lower for patients who opted for chiropractic treatments. This is due to the absence of medical equipment or prescription drug charges in the patients care. With this in mind it is easy to understand why chiropractic care is more cost effective. I read that chiropractic treatment costs about 90% less than the price of surgery.  Knowing that back surgeries can range from $5000 to as much as $40,000 (approx) I believe the above statistic is quite accurate.

Chiropractic Cost and Coverage

According to a Chiropractic Economics magazine research survey, an average chiropractic treatment costs around $65 but can be lower depending on what procedures were done and at what stage of treatment you are. Overhead plays a role in the average cost per visit depending on what part of the country you are in as well.

Typically your first visits costs more than a “regular” visit since there are far more procedures involved and the length of time is greater. Follow-up visit are typically less than the initial visit.

In some cases additional procedures or equipment may be needed. Chiropractors often charge the patient for that, such as x-ray, massage sessions, or acupuncture. The charges vary for each additional service but are usually less than that of a medical facility. Your doctor will notify you before, should any additional services be needed.

How Can I Save Money

Research studies have shown chiropractic care to be more cost-effective than traditional medical treatments. Additionally, there are more ways for you to increase your savings:

• Do you have insurance? Most insurance covers chiropractic care.

• Chiropractic treatment is considered tax-deductible.

• Most chiropractors offer cash discounts to compensate for a lack of coverage.  Many give further discounts for multiple visit packages.

• Some doctors (like us) believe in offering a very affordable First Office Visit so that patients can evaluate for themselves if chiropractic care can benefit them.
